รายวิชานี้มุ่งศึกษาองค์ประกอบ กระบวนการ บทบาทและหน้าที่ ประวัติ โครงสร้างและระบบการสื่อสาร ทฤษฎีการสื่อสารและพัฒนาการ ประเภทการสื่อสารจำแนกตามกระบวนการ ภาษาสัญลักษณ์ และจำนวนผู้สื่อสาร การนำแนวคิดทฤษฎีมาใช้ในการอธิบายผลสะท้อนผ่านช่องทางการสื่อสารต่าง ๆ ทั้งสื่อหลักและสื่อดิจิทัล
