The purpose of this course is to provide students with an understanding of the changing role of ASEAN in international affairs and world politics. The main content is concerned with the relationship between ASEAN and the world economy and political relationships between the great powers and multilateral organizations; the content also includes contemporary global issues such as environmental protection, gender studies, religious-ethnic violence and military tensions.
