Current knowledge concerning fundamental concepts in Immunology, including components of the immune system, types of immunity, antigens, antibodies, complements antigen recognition molecules, cytokines, immune tolerance and regulation of immune responses, hypersensitivity, and immunization. This course focuses on integrating basic knowledge of components and mechanisms of the immune system in the immunological response to foreign particles and cells, microbes, and parasites, including the application of immunologic principles to the diagnosis of infectious diseases.
