This course examines the complicated linkage and relationship between religions, ethnicity and the states in ASEAN region. The content includes the religion, ethnicity and identity politics during the colonial era and its post-colonial continuity. It also examines critical ethno-religious conflicts of the region and the effects of such conflicts on national politics, state policies, and social cleavage and reconciliation.
