เคมีสิ่งแวดล้อมเป็นวิชาพื้นฐานเคมีที่เกี่ยวข้องกับวิทยาศาสตร์สิ่งแวดล้อมและระบบนิเวศโดยกล่าวถึงพื้นฐานเคมีในน้ำ ดิน และอากาศ ที่เกี่ยวข้องกับปฏิสัมพันธ์ของสารเคมีที่เกิดบนพื้นโลก บรรยากาศ แหล่งน้ำ  สิ่งมีชีวิต และสภาพแวดล้อมของมนุษย์ รวมทั้งชีวเคมีสิ่งแวดล้อมและความเป็นพิษของสารมลพิษ นอกจากนี้ยังอธิบายพื้นฐานการวิเคราะห์คุณภาพน้ำ ดิน และอากาศ

Environmental chemistry introduces to the basic chemical concepts on environmental science and ecology. This provides fundamental chemistry including chemical principles of water, soil and air. The disciplines of the complex interactions that occur among the terrestrial, atmospheric, aquatic, living, and anthropological environments are described. Topic includes environmental biochemistry and toxicology of pollutants. Basic chemical analyses of water, soil and air quality are explained.
