วิชานี้มุ่งศึกษาความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างกฎหมายและเทคโนโลยีสารสนเทศตลอดจนผลกระทบของความก้าวหน้าของเทคโนโลยีสารสนเทศที่มีต่อกฎหมาย โดยเฉพาะอย่างยิ่ง มุ่งศึกษาปัญหาทางกฎหมายที่เกิดจากความก้าวหน้าของเทคโนโลยีสารสนเทศซึ่งรวมถึงปัญหาเกี่ยวกับการทำธุรกรรมทางอิเล็กทรอนิกส์ ปัญหาเกี่ยวกับการคุ้มครองผู้บริโภคในธุรกรรมที่ทำผ่านเครือข่าย ปัญหาเกี่ยวกับอาชญากรรมคอมพิวเตอร์ ปัญหาเกี่ยวกับการคุ้มครองสิทธิในทรัพย์สินทางปัญญา ปัญหาเกี่ยวกับการคุ้มครองสิทธิ ส่วนบุคคล และปัญหาทางสังคมอื่น ๆ ทั้งนี้ โดยศึกษาและวิเคราะห์กฎหมายว่าด้วยธุรกรรมทางอิเล็กทรอนิกส์ กฎหมายว่าด้วยการกระทำความผิดเกี่ยวกับคอมพิวเตอร์ กฎหมายว่าด้วยการคุ้มครองผู้บริโภค กฎหมายว่าด้วยการคุ้มครองข้อมูลส่วนบุคคล ตลอดจนกฎหมายอื่นที่เกี่ยวข้อง

This course attempts to examine the interplay between law and information technology as well as impacts of information technology advancements on laws. In particular, it seeks to explore legal problems emerging from information technology advancements, including problems relating to the conclusion of electronic transactions, consumer protection in online transactions, computer crime, intellectual property rights protection and privacy rights protection and also other social problems. For these purposes, the law on electronic transactions, the law on commission of computer-related offences, the law on consumer protection, the law on data protection and other relevant laws will be studied and analytically discussed.
