รายวิชานี้มุ่งเน้นให้ทราบและเข้าใจองค์ประกอบทางเคมีในสมุนไพรและผลิตภัณฑ์จากสมุนไพร การจำแนกกลุ่มขององค์ประกอบทางเคมีเป็นสารปฐมภูมิในกลุ่มคาร์โบไฮเดรต โปรตีนและไขมัน และสารทุติยภูมิในกลุ่มแอลคาลอยด์ ฟลาโวนอยด์ ไกลโคไซค์ เทอร์พินอยด์ น้ำมันหอมระเหย เรซิน บาลซั่ม กรดอินทรีย์ ลิกแนน แร่ธาตุ และสารอื่น ๆ การตรวจสอบเบื้องต้นทางพฤกษเคมี การสกัดแยกสารสำคัญจากสมุนไพร ข้อกำหนดและมาตรฐานสมุนไพร การนำสมุนไพรมาประยุกต์ใช้ด้านการแพทย์และเภสัชกรรม

This course aims to know and understand chemical constituents of medicinal plants and products in terms of primary metabolites including carbohydrates, protein, lipids; and secondary metabolites including alkaloids, flavonoids, glycosides, terpenoids, volatile oils, resins, balsams, organic acids, lignans, minerals and miscellaneous compounds; techniques for phytochemical screening; extractions; regulation and standardisation of medicinal plants and their applications in medicines and pharmacy.
